Okay, okay, I keep saying that I’ll blog more but I never end up making good on that promise 😂 But here I am again! I really missed this blog and I really miss writing, it’s just that I didn’t feel like my life was interesting enough to blog, as I had nothing much going on during the quarantine.
Oops, alright, that last statement isn’t entirely true. Actually, a lot of things happened, but let’s just say 2021 was a rough year for me. Maybe I’ll blog about that some other time, but for now, here are some noteworthy stuff from my life:
Ahh, this! I got promoted last year and led the training for all the new joiners that came in during the second half of the year. I was also offered a managerial role this year, which I accepted.
All these things sound like they’re huge achievements, right? Well, they are, but I somehow feel like I don’t deserve to be where I am right now. I feel like I’m not doing enough to be deserving of the role that was entrusted to me. I’m so pressured to do well but all the results I’m getting are showing me that I’m not doing well at all. My bosses are reassuring me that I’m doing just fine and that whatever is happening right now isn’t entirely my fault, but I just can’t help but feel responsible. Honestly, I’m still finding ways to deal with the pressure and so far, being back in the office and being able to personally interact with my direct reports is proving to be helpful. I really just hope that I’ll still be able to catch up and turn things around for the last two months of the year.
Last June, I found myself falling in love with SB19, a Filipino boy group considered as the trailblazer of the P-Pop genre. SB19, composed of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin, trained for years under a Korean agency based in the Philippines. The boys are heavily involved in composing, producing, and choreographing their own music and music videos, which really impressed me. They have really catchy upbeat songs and lovely ballads with heartwarming lyrics. Besides that, they’re really talented and are so pleasant to watch, plus they have really inspiring stories that just make you want to root for them.
So, when they announced that they would have a concert tour in time for the release of their latest single, WYAT (Where You At), I readily jumped at the opportunity to watch them live, for the first time ever! I originally planned to just watch the kickoff concert in Manila, but I was so blown away that I purchased tickets to the next stop of their concert tour in Cebu 😂 So yep, I watched them twice!
It’s been a while since that show, and because I miss them, I made a vlog from all the videos I shot in Cebu. The first few minutes show my pre-concert experience and basically just me talking about why Justin is my favorite member, but you can skip ahead to 7:15 for a sneak peek of what the boys have to offer in terms of performance!
My hobbies were put on hold this year because I really had to get my life together. I did start two, though: golf and film photography.
Golf was such a pleasant surprise. I never thought it could be so fun because I only had bad memories of it as a child – my parents made me try golf when I was 6 but I was so tiny and so I was unable to lift any of the clubs, much to my embarrassment. This gave me a preconceived notion that golf was difficult. And yes, it is difficult in so many ways, but it’s also really enjoyable! Don’t get me wrong, I’m still really bad at it, but I still find it really relaxing. Oh, and I love how I get to exercise with golf without feeling like I’m exercising at all. Whenever I play, I feel like I’m just taking a long, leisurely walk.
As for film, well, I already like taking instant photos so I thought that I should try 35mm as well, just for the experience. I ended up enjoying my experience, even though I got mixed results from my first roll. It was such a refreshing change of pace in this day and age where it’s so easy to just casually pull out my digital camera and take as many photos as I can of something, without caring what that shot means to me or whether I would actually look back on it someday. I only get a limited number of shots in film photography, and knowing this helps me stay more grounded and present in the moment, as I only want to use those shots to capture very special moments or scenes that I want to relive and look back on.
- I adopted 2 cats! They just turned 2 😍
- I moved into an apartment closer to work. I’m so happy that I don’t have to deal with traffic and super high fuel prices anymore!
- I was diagnosed with PCOS, which exacerbated my struggle to lose weight 😐 Needless to say, I’m the largest and heaviest I’ve ever been.
- Voted for the first time last May!
- Went back to Paris last March with my mom, sister, and sister-in-law. I know I was very critical of Paris during my first visit, but this trip made me appreciate and love the city. I finally understand the appeal!
So yeah, that’s it so far. I wanted to make my comeback blog post a bit lighthearted, so I’ll find the time [and courage] to talk about the rough parts some other day. And of course, I’ll do my best to catch up with everyone – I missed all of my blog friends so much! 🤗
