I’m not too fond of New Year’s resolutions because I feel like you don’t need to wait for the New Year to change something about yourself, but man, for 2015 I think I have to reconsider that and actually start changing on the first day of the year!

Now, I’m not saying that my 2014 sucked. It was actually kinda awesome. But I feel like I could have done more things to make it better and more productive. So here are the things that I resolve to do in 2015:

  1. DRIVE!
Oh gosh, my friends weren’t kidding when they said: “If you can drive in Manila, you can drive anywhere.” I know how to drive, but Manila traffic is unbearable, and the drivers here during rush hour… Well, I don’t even know how to describe them. I cannot park to save my life too, that’s why I’m always hesitant to drive. I always feel like I’m going to bump into another car.

I know I have to drive eventually, but I’m too scared to begin. I’ve had lessons before but the instructor was kinda giving up on me because I just couldn’t perfect reverse parking. I was frustrated with myself too. That’s why this year, I’m really going to exert effort into practicing my driving skills, and maybe I’m going to start driving to work too just to get a feel of things.

  2. Invest in skills
This year, I admit that I’ve spent so much money on material things. It’s really tempting! But in the end, I haven’t saved anything for what I’ve always wanted to try after graduation: lessons.

Lessons on what? Anything that interests me. It doesn’t need to be related to work or career. I’ve always wanted to improve my voice and Chinese skills but I spent way too much on gadgets and other stuff. In 2015, I will make sure that these plans would turn into a reality.

  3. Travel
This one is a bit difficult because it requires a lot of money, but if I get the chance to travel to a place I haven’t visited before, I’d definitely grab it! I travel a lot but it’s always the same places with the same people. I’d love to see other places this year, and maybe I could even go by myself for the first time!
  4. Be more active
2014 was my laziest year ever. I did want to gain some weight last year because I was underweight, but I did it in unhealthy ways. This year, I still want to maintain my normal weight but I want to be more active and make sure that I’m taking good care of my body. I am starting to feel the toll of the lazy lifestyle so I really want to take control of my health this year. With more pets coming into our home (more on that soon), I feel like I will be able to accomplish this goal.
  5. Set aside time for myself and my friends
I am a workaholic. It’s true. Even as a student, I rarely went out with friends or did things that I wanted because I was too busy thinking of other things or other people. But late last year, I realized how important it is to have “me time”. It’s really rejuvenating. It’s also the same when spending time with friends. I always feel happy and refreshed whenever I get to see them. I resolve to welcome those breaks from work this 2015!

How was your 2014? Do you also have resolutions to make this year better than the previous one?

Hello, just passing by on your blog! 🙂
Your header photo is really eye-catching! My 2014 was kinda a lazy year for me. It’s not really my year although there are good things that happened to me. We are the same on number 1. As much as I want to drive I really can’t because the moment I enter the highway I’m freaking out. lol and I dont know what is right and what is left. I am really panicking but I know I really need to learn because sooner or later it will be convenient to bring your own car lol. This year I plan to attend seminars and trainings, because I was focused on my academic stuff last year, huhu. There’s this seminar I really want to attend last year but I can’t due to Saturday classes and I regret it because the professor did’nt go to class that day.Ugh. Anyways, I wish you a happy 2015! 🙂

Hi! First of, belated merry Christmas and belated happy new year to you! Thank you for the comment! I love the new theme btw because I think the last time I visited your blog you were using a different theme or header?? hehe 🙂

My 2014 wasn’t that bad… it was kind of awesome too (maybe in a different kind of awesomeness like learning how to be a mom hehe). I don’t believe in new year’s resolutions either…. however, I set goals every January. Like money/savings quota each year, see to it I get myself a personal gift on my birthday, etc. Oooh, I’ve always wanted to learn how to drive, yes, I don’t know how to drive yet but this year, I think I’d be really serious about it because cabs in Manila are getting scarier. I would love to travel this year too.. but kind of impossible / hassle with a baby. Anyhow, hoping you’d have a nicer 2015! Cheeers!

2014 was definitely a bad year for me, but worst year? That belongs to another year, but alas, I’ve learned that bad years often have the most surprising results and can teach you a lot. It helped and hindered me a lot, but mostly helped. Sure, there was times that I felt like giving up, but I didn’t, but I did it! I made it to another year.

My resolutions are simply to not let my mental illness get the best of me, and actually become a functional adult. An adult that can go to school full time and go to work part time (at first), but alas, I know even if I do fall, I know I can get up and continuing aiming for them. 😀

I agree that you don’t need to wait for a new year to make changes. I often make goals part way through the year, but I also think the new year gives some extra motivation, and it kind of feels nice to start each year with some resolutions in mind 🙂

I drive all the time, but I’m still scared to drive in the city or super busy areas. That type of driving makes me nervous!

I think that’s a good idea to invest in your skills. Plus, it’s fun to have a hobby and to learn new things 🙂 I hope you’ll be able to see new places this year too!

Aahh, I totally need to be more active. I spend too much time sitting down, especially since my job is at a desk. One of my goals is actually to exercise more.

Good luck on all of your goals! 2014 was pretty good for me, and I set a few resolutions for myself this year 🙂 They are to exercise more, work on home decor, and work on my website organization.
